Ripon House Approved Premises for women is only one of 7 Approved Premises for Women across the country. This is compared to over 100 Approved Premises for men.
Ripon House has the capacity to accommodate 25 women at any one time and caters for women who are on bail or those already sentenced (either as part of a Community Order or as a condition of a Post-Custody Licence).
We work in partnership with the Probation Service and with a number of community based projects in order to provide an enhanced level of supervision for women who are involved with the Criminal Justice System in some way.
All residents at Ripon House are allocated a linkworker who works with them on specific aspects of their Supervision Plan to address issues relevant to reducing their offending and the risk they pose to the public.
Those residents who have a drug problem or whose offending has been related to drug use are expected to work with the hostel based Addiction Therapist and hostel General Practitioner in order to address these issues. Similar work would be undertaken with community based programmes for those residents whose offending has been related to their use of alcohol
Ripon House is proud to work in partnership with Park Lane College in order to provide in-house Arts & Crafts classes and the Esteem Project which is an outdoor education programme. In addition Ripon House works closely with the Together Women Project to provide counselling and anger management courses as well as offering general support for women whilst in the hostel and in the community.
