Green Fingers

Fitting into the community is an important role for an Approved Premise. We recognise that good relations with the community is a vital part of being a successful hostel. This year Ripon House has shown neighbours that they want to play an active part in the community.

A few streets behind the hostel there is a piece of common land called the Rosebank Millennium Green. On a warm April afternoon hostel residents agreed to take on the role of brightening it up by planting hundreds of snowdrops.

Apart from having an enjoyable afternoon, by spending the time to improve a part of our community, we have shown our willingness to take our share of responsibility for our environment.

This planting session has increased an interest in gardening amongst the residents and the hostel now has a rear garden which is full of beautiful new plants and colour.
